how it works

Years of built-up dirt, sweat, grime, fingerprints, smoke, stick marks, tarnish, tape residue, patina from oxidation, etc., collects on the cymbal and fills the cymbals grooves. This not only changes the appearance, but more importantly, it changes and muffles the original, manufacturers intended sound and the life span of your cymbals. You want to protect your investment, right?

If you want your cymbals to sound and look like the manufacturer intended them to on the day they left the factory, then professionally cleaned cymbals are a must!

The service I provide is THE most effective way to clean cymbals

How it works

Cymbal cleaning service cleaner restoration restore logo Zildjian Paiste Sabian Meinl
  • You’ll send your cymbals or deliver them to my location.
  • Once I receive your cymbals you will be notified via email.
  • Cymbals will be closely inspected for any irregularities. (Damaged or cracked cymbals cannot be professionally cleaned.)
  • Before sending your cymbals, check with me for the soonest open date as I sometimes get backed up. Usually completed within 1-2 days after I start.
  • Turn Around Time for professional cleaning with logo replacement or custom inking is 10 - 15 days after work begins on your cymbals. The ink needs days to dry and bond to the cymbal.
  • Once your cymbals are ready, I will send you before and after photos along with your invoice.
  • Once your payment is received, I will ship your cymbals back to you and provide you with a tracking number.
  • Payment can be made with Venmo, PayPal, USPS money orders and bank  cashiers checks. (If you use Paypal, you must add their 3% PayPal fee to total)

NOTE* Please read this Important guide to help make sure your cymbals are fully protected and the shipping to and from goes smoothly.

  • First and Foremost - PLEASE BE SURE TO PURCHASE AND PLACE A PRE-PAID RETURN SHIPPING LABEL INSIDE THE BOX ALONG WITH YOUR CYMBALS.
  • It is suggested that you take photos prior to shipping. This is for your protection in the event of damage during shipping.

           PACKING RECOMMENDATIONS

This doesn’t need to be overly complicated, nor do you need to spend tons of money buying expensive packing materials.

  • Find a box that will handle the largest diameter cymbal. You can always trim down a taller box. If sending two to three 16” or smaller cymbals, an unused cardboard pizza box, folded inside out works great! My local pizza joints give me free boxes all the time.
  • Use some old newspapers or bubble wrap and line the bottom of the box.
  • Put the cymbals in bell up, starting with your smallest cymbal, and stack them. Be sure to put some newspaper or bubble wrap between each cymbal.
  • Once you have all the cymbals stacked in the box, line some bubble wrap, wadded up paper or other packing material around the edges of the cymbals. That cardboard you may have just trimmed off of a bigger box would work well also.
  • I will re-use your box and carefully re-package your return order. I suggest you hold onto the box and packaging to re-use for your next service.
  • Regardless of which carrier or type of service you decide to use, you should jot down and provide me with the tracking number.

          It’s as easy as that!

Logo Re-Inking / Replacement

Click here for information and thoughts on logo re-inking and replacement.

I’m no longer replacing cymbal logos. The custom ink and hardener that I used is the same as  Zildjian, Sabian, Paiste, etc. all use. It actually chemically bonds to the cymbal alloy. I have to special order it and it’s quite expensive. Regular ink or paint will eventually just flake off due to the cymbal vibration. Almost all of my customers prefer the look of a brilliant, shiny, clean cymbal with no logos. Because of this, the hardener that I order does not get used quick enough and becomes unusable. It’s no longer cost-effective for my customers to have me replace the logos.

NOTE * In my honest opinion, cymbal logos are NOT necessary. They are more of a status symbol. Almost every cymbal has a pressed or hammered logo stamped into the cymbal that identifies the manufacturer. Logos on cymbals are basically just free advertising for the cymbal maker. If a cymbal manufacturer sponsors you and provides you with free cymbals, then go ahead and fly their logos proudly, but that’s not the case for 99% of us.
Radiant, shiny, brilliant, “
naked” cymbals just look classy and clean.
